The Standard Luxury Tavern is home to one of Ottawa’s best venues. Opened in 2006, the space was due for an update but maintaining the original feel and design aesthetic of the space was key. Making small changes that produce a big impact was the main focus. Tile, wood applications and a variety of textures and finishes help create interest within the space’s limited colour palette. Moments of vivid patterning, bold colour-blocking and graphic wallpapers achieve these high impact changes and wow-factor without completely altering the original design concept. The mixture of matte and high gloss blacks against distressed wood and vintage mirrored tile helps maintain the tavern vibe while giving it a polished, modern feel. The overall design elevates while paying homage to The Standard’s long history in Ottawa.
