Creating a space that fosters gathering without compromising functionality were the key elements for the design and update of the kitchen in the 1963 split rancher home. Removal of the wall previously separating the kitchen and dining room was paramount in creating a more harmonious space with the rest of the house, bringing an openness and brightness to both rooms. The mixed grey slate-style chevron tile is the foundation for creating the fresh and contemporary palette - by mixing matte and gloss finishes, metals and materials the room is modern with an eclectic and warm feeling. White walls surround the matte grey-green cabinetry which is paired with the high gloss white countertops. Brass pendants and cabinet pulls bring warmth to this contemporary kitchen. Adding built-ins create maximum efficiency of space as well as showcase the collectibles and personality of the homeowners, housing a variety of items including an extensive collection of cookbooks, pottery and curiosities, as well as a special eating nook for the beloved family German Shepherd.
